FAQ’s
How long will my purchase take to arrive?
I aim to package your purchase asap, delivery normally takes 5-6 working days. Please see Terms for more information.
Is my bowl foodsafe?
I use non-toxic glazes for food bowls and state this in the description of the work. Due to the very small runs I produce, I don’t have bowls laboratory tested as being food safe. Generally, if I want to eat off a bowl or plate, I avoid choosing pots with the eating surface covered in crackle glazes, inclusions and matt surfaces as these have a higher risk of trapping dirt and microbes. I also avoid keeping acidic liquids in bowls for a long time as this can, in some glazes, cause leaching.
Can I put my bowl in the dishwasher, oven microwave and freezer?
Stoneware is a hard-wearing ceramic although I advise that you handwash your pottery to keep it in good condition. Thermal shocks from freezing, microwaves and hot ovens/ dishwashers can crack pottery.
Can I return my pot if it arrives broken?
Yes. Please see Terms for more information.
Can I return my pot if I don’t like it?
Due to the cost and risks of damage, unfortunately I don’t accept returns unless I’ve sent you the wrong piece of work in the first place. If you’re not sure, please ask questions before you purchase. See Terms for more information.
Can I visit your studio?
I’m happy to show you around the studio, by arrangement, and you can see the full range of work that is available for sale. Please contact me for times. I take health and safety seriously, but please be aware that this is a working studio and there maybe some dust on the shelves!
What clay do you use?
I have used four or five different clays, but mostly it’s Valentine’s Stoneware Special Fleck.
What kiln do you use?
For biscuit ware I use an electric EcoTop 43 and for reduction firing a homemade gas kiln. This is a converted top loading electric kiln. The conversion is a TDI downdraft kiln following the Sebastian Mark model. You can find his blog and buy his book online.
Can I buy the glazes you use?
All my glazes are homemade, although I’m happy to share recipes!
